**Adoption Rules**

Our adoption process is simple and our Pre Adoption Applications are online for easy access. Once they are submitted we start the screening process. ~(Your application goes to a PCER volunteer who goes over it, calls references, and discusses it with Shelly & Cortney to see if you are the right home for the animal you have applied to adopt. After all of that is complete a farm visit is scheduled to be sure your farm is going to be a safe place for that horse.) ~ No horse adoptions will be finalized before a farm visit is performed and all reference checks have been completed! ~ For horses, a follow up visit is also done about 2 weeks after the horse has come to live with you to be sure that everything is working out for both of you. ~Adoption distance is 300 miles from the rescue UNLESS there is a recognized equine rescue in your area who will do the farm visits and follow ups for Plant City Equine Rescue (PCER)~ A Yearly report from your vet is required for two years and a once a year "unannounced" check up will be done by a PCER volunteer. If we see any signs of abuse (physical or lack of food), the animal will be taken back to PCER immediatelly. The animal will remain the property of PCER for a period of two years. If we see no signs of abuse or neglect during this time, the horse ownership will be released to you.  We do NOT do this to stop you from adopting a horse, but to look out for the interest of the horse.  We feel if you take care of it and love it for two years, YOU will not allow anyone to have it or buy it that would abuse it either, as you will love it too!
