6-27-08 We sent a trailer after a "thin horse". Pics were taken at the time a surrender agreement was signed. Doc Britt scored the animal at a 2 (on a 1-10 scale with one being almost dead). 95% sand in his stool, 0% body fat, 10-15% dehydration, anemic, infested with parasites and no ability to sweat. Those were the first noted things wrong with this animal.

Since his arrival, he's been fed very small amounts of feed/hay several times a day and monitored 24/7.

Here are pictures of Spirit on his 3rd day here. He very quickly went into a BAD colic! His body seemed to be giving out. We had to hose him off & hold him up until the medication kicked in. all this while waiting on Doc to get here and set up an IV. We cooled him down ... waiting. Although criticial, he managed to pull through.
