Volunteers Needed!!
First a special Thanks to our dedicated and consistent Volunteers that have joined our family helping the Rescue. Albert, Rick, Johnny, Debbie, Kendall & Jill - You all have been there for us when we haven't asked. As well, you have always been here when we have asked. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you so much.
These folks are busy and we need more help!! You don't have to have experience with horses to lend a much needed helping hand! This is also a great opportunity for you to learn what it takes to care and handle horses, if you're interested in gaining horsemanship skills. For those of you with horse experience we need:
1. Help washing the horses
2. Groundwork with the horses
3. Riding the horses, both here and on the trails
4. Picking up and delivering horses
5. Making on site visits on properties that have already adopted a horse
Option #5, would have you act as a representative of PCER. As a rep, you would be responsible for pre-approval farm checks and twice a years follow-up checks on each assigned horse. Duties include (but not limited to), making sure that the horse is fed and not abused in any way. To offer help/advice pertaining to any questions/issues that they may be having with the horse
It doesn't take experience with horses to lend a helping hand. Just think about what you like to do and how you may be able to help. Running this rescue requires help in so many areas:
1. Cleaning stalls
2. Feeding horses
3. Fixing or building fences
4. General handyman work
5. Farm equipment maintenance & repair - lawn mowers, 4 wheelers, power equipment, etc.
6. Showing new visitors around the Rescue
7. Fundraising
8. Art work and graphic design for brochures
9. Electrical work
10. Plumbing work
Any and all help is welcomed, at any time. This list is just a sample. Of course, it seems the work on the Rescue never stops! We would love a phone call or email if you would like to help. Don't be shy because we won't be! Call 813-239-6525 (Shelly), 863-860-5924 (Cortney) or email equinerescue@hotmail.com
Some of our volunteers
Debbie
This is Debbie, our neighbor. She has a wealth of knowledge and is always lending a helping hand when needed. She gives us use of her small horse trailer whenever needed. She will even help with the feeding if needed. She has housed different horses for us for different reasons. Since we are new to the area, she's always informing us of community events. She's also great at keeping us up to date on necessary things. Here she is, about to start her riding lesson on her fat mule named Ruby. :) Gotta love her!!
Dr. Larry Britt
Dr. Larry Britt from Road Runner Vet Clinic has been helping Shelly and Cortney with their rescue horses since early 2007. We here at the rescue would like to personally thank him for helping us save so many horses!
